He earned his B.S. and M.D. degrees from the University of Florida, followed by a surgical internship at Duke University. Dr. Holloway's journey led him to Houston, TX, where he recognized the need for physician-supervised weight loss programs emphasizing a "Healthier Lifestyle."

Dr. Holloway's athletic prowess began at the age of 14 as a pole vaulter, launching a remarkable 13-year career. He excelled at the University of Florida, securing five SEC Championship titles and setting school records, including the highest vault in Florida state history at over nineteen feet. His achievements led to appearances in the 1992 and 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials, as well as numerous international competitions, earning him induction into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003.
